Carbs make you FAT

“No Carbs before marbs”

Thankfully, I’ve not heard that crap phrase for some time!

It didn’t actually help the fallacy that,
“Carbs make you fat” ????

– “Yeah but if I cut them out before holiday I’ll lose weight?!”

Let me give you the facts……

1. You DO NOT need to cut out carbs to lose weight.

2. If you’re training hard or often you actually NEED a decent amount of carbs for energy/repair.

3. Carbs DO NOT make you fat. Overeating consistently (and I mean eating more calories than you need) makes you gain weight, whether this is Fats, Protein or Carbs .

4. Every 1g of carbs stored in the body, has 3g of water attached to it. This water is needed during the metabolic process of breaking it down for energy.
Eat a LOT of carbs, have MORE water stored in body = More scales weight.
Cut carbs, you cut water = Less scales weigh (NOT fat) …. this is why people who go on ‘low carb’ diets lose 3+ pounds in first few weeks ….. its water NOT fat.
Plus if it’s for holiday ….. I reckon the carbs will soon be back down the hatch?!????

This might also be why,
after a heavy carb ‘weekend’ anyone who crazily weighs themselves on a Monday might have a BIG shock ????
WATER!

Without repeating myself,
eating MORE than your body needs (CALORIES) over a consistent period of time makes you gain WEIGHT.

You’ve seen the stories or people
eating McDonalds etc for 30 days and losing/staying same weight?
No brainer – they still ate WITHIN their required calories
for a regular period.

Healthy? —> Unlikely
Calories Deficit? —> Sure = Weightloss.

Working to Calories and PERSONAL requirements is what we do in my LEAN group;
People can still have what they’d like,
AND lose weight consistently – THAT is life Balance 🙂
