Cardio or Resistance Training?

So, a common questions, and was asked this morning;
What’s best for weightloss, Cardio or weights/resistance training?
My straight forward, smart-arse answer would be;
‘A regular diet, clear of sugar, and full of natural foods, protein and fats”
but I’m not like that………..not today anyway!
BUT – sling weight regularly is about;
– Getting a decent nights sleep in
-Removing regular stressors in your life
– Drinking enough (1.5+litres water) a day
But on the training side, I would say both.
That’s not sitting on the fence!
 
If I were to pick one, it would definitely be bodyweight training (press ups, lunges, dips etc)
over cardio, as purely cardio training (running/spinning etc)
does NOTHING for your body shape.
I get enough PT clients who do this form of training
and are still seeking weightloss and/or a body shape change.
 
You need to do things that challenge the muscles if you 
want to change your body shape.
 
You need to do things that elevate your hard rate
and challenge you to get your body burning stored energy/fat
 
You need to be eating a nutrient rich diet often
to supply your body with the structures it needs to change
and drop fat
 
You need to be sleeping enough to allow hormones to balance
and the body to repair
 
You need to be drinking enough water to allow the body
to transport nutrients around the body and to transport
fat out of the cells
 
You need to minimise stressors so that hormones don’t get
disrupted and put a “halt” on fat loss and health.
So in answer  – a Mix, but make sure you do something
you enjoy, otherwise you’re unlikely to stick to either, right?!
And as always – ensure that EVERYTHING you do, 
which you know is right, is done often, or more often 
than the stuff which WON’T help!
