How to get things done properly!

Insanity – “Doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different outcome”

Often what most people are/do when tackling a new task/goal/target…..whatever you want to call it.

The problem is, most people have great intentions to start with, even during it, but it’s the same old stuff that gets in the way, and either knocks you off the wagon, or slow’s you down.

So, how do you battle against these, and ensure you don’t make the same mistakes over and over again?

1. Grab a piece of paper and split it into 3 columns.
Label these columns …. TASK/GOAL — OBSTACLE — HURDLE

2. In the TASK/GOAL column, write down EXACTLY what you’re trying to achieve. This list can be a longterm plan or short term. So you may have; Lose a stone. Get accounts sorted out on the last day of every month. Ensure I exercise 4 times a week, Make sure I plan my meals in advance etc etc.

3. In the OBSTACLE column next to these tasks, write down the things that have STOPPED you in the past. Really sit down and think. Such as I always hit the drink after i get home from work, or I leave the accounts til the last day of the month, too much to do and it takes 3 days! I get home from work knackered, I don’t plan my meals!!

4. Then in the HURDLE column, start thinking about how you’re going to change your mindset, your attitude and your ACTIONS! Here you are going to write down the NEW things you are going to do to hurdle the “obstacles” Such as; I’m not going to have alcohol in the house during the week! I will do my Accounts every Sunday evening to make it more manageable. I will write my workout before I leave work and do it as soon as I get home, or if the gym, I’ll go straight from work. I’m going to sit down Sunday afternoon and plan my meals.

Yes this might take a little time, but hey, if you want results, they won’t just come to you. Everything starts with attitude, and a positive mindset.

Change yours, get planning, and results should come daily!
